The Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) oversees administration of the radiation safety program at George Mason University. The RSC reviews all users and uses of radioactive materials and x-ray producing devices to ensure that all operations involving sources of ionizing radiation are conducted in a safe manner. Additionally, the RSC periodically reviews the radiation safety program to ensure that exposure to radiation is maintained As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) and that operations at Mason are in compliance with applicable government regulations and the condition of Mason's radioactive materials licenses with the NRC and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
