Mr. Brad Huntsman
Assistant Radiation Safety Officer

Mr. Huntsman joined Mason’s Laboratory Safety Office in December 2007.  In 2000, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Dayton.  He is currently working on his Master of Arts degree in Environmental & Resource Policy from George Washington University.  There his final project will focus on High-Level Nuclear Waste Management.

Prior to his arrival at George Mason University, Brad was the Senior Radiation Safety Technologist at George Washington University where he oversaw and implemented the Radiation Safety Program.  His responsibilities included:  tracking all radioactive material at the University, handling radioactive waste, training personnel, and maintaining overall compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Brad has received Radiation Technician training, DOT Shipping training, Liquid Scintillation Counter training, and Radiation Safety Officer training from Radiation Safety Academy.  He is also a member of the Health Physics Society and is a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician Basic.

As the Assistant Radiation Safety Officer and Assistant Chemical Hygiene Officer, Brad assists in the administration of the Radiation Safety and Chemical Hygiene Programs, provides training, laboratory waste management services to laboratories, and maintains overall compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
